┌──────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ 2DAYUP ver 1.10 │
│ HELLO and/or BULLETIN Screen Generator │
│ For WILDCAT! 3.x Systems │
│ (C) 1991 - LAWMAN ENTERPRISES │
└──────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
We'll start with the 2DAYUP.DAT file. This program will not run
without it. A sample has been provided with this package. To get up and
running quickly, use your text editor, or copy con, to create this .DAT
file, and place it in the same directory as 2DAYUP.EXE, (which is the
home directory containing your ACTIVITY.### file(s)). The first line of
this file is the path and filename of the display file you want the
program to create. Do not enter an extension here, as the program will
enter the extension .BBS by default. (Remember, for Wildcat! to display
the file to ansi and non-ansi viewers alike, it must have a .BBS
extension, so let the program do it for you). An example would be:
C:\WC30\DISP\HELLO5 or C:\WC30\BULL\BULL10
This entry MUST be on the first line of the .DAT file. The next lines,(up
to 25), are the extensions only of your ACTIVITY log files. Wildcat! now
numbers these by node, so instead of ACTIVITY.LOG, you now have
ACTIVITY.001 for node one, and so on. For node 1, you would simply place
001 on this line. There must be a separate line used for each node, if you
wish to use one display for all nodes. An example of a five node system
using HELLO5.BBS would be:
C:\WC30\DISP\HELLO5
001
002
003
004
005
All of your ACTIVITY files must be in the same directory as the .DAT and
.EXE program files.
2DAYUP uses the current system date for its display file. If you are
running the program from your POSTCALL.BAT or POSTCALL.RUN file, this will
keep the display file up to date following each call. Since this is a
DAILY UPLOAD REPORT generator, it should reflect the calls on a daily
basis. To do this properly, you must delete, or move your ACTIVITY log
files on a daily basis.
On LAWMAN MAIL ROOM BBS we start our event.bat "MAINT.BAT" just before
midnight, and have it ZIP our ACTIVITY file to a holding area, and then
delete it from the directory. (We start before midnight, because we use a
program called DATENAME.EXE to rename the ACTIVITY file before ZIPing it,
and DATENAME uses the system date also. This way the file AC052691.001 is
the node one ACTIVITY file for May 26th, and can be found easily in the
ZIPed archive).
Because 2DAYUP is designed to be run unattended, if it does not find the
.DAT file, it will write a 2DAYUP.ERR file, and terminate. It should not
hang up the system for any reason. Although it has been extensively tested
while beta testing Wildcat! 3.00, we could not test it under every
conceiveable condition, so if you have a problem, please let us know.
2DAYUP is FREEWARE, and is entered into the public domain by LAWMAN
ENTERPRISES. There is NO charge for this program, and we sincerely hope
you find it of use on your system. Enjoy it, and share it with others.
